A seasoned team of MLS professionals has taken over calREDD’s MLS vendor, Concentric MLS system. The new group is headed by Bret Wiener as President and includes Issac AbecassisIssac Abecassis
as CTO/CFO, Prem Jain (not pictured)as their director of software development and Warren Andrich as VP, Sales and Marketing. The team may be new to management and ownership of the company, but they were working behind the scenes at the old calREDD system.
This new company, dubbed Discover MLS, has taken over the IP rights from the former management and and will be working with C.A.R. and MRMLS on the yet to be named new statewide MLS effort.
Just as before, the system is designed for use on the Adobe Flash/Flex platform. I have voiced my opinion on this type of approach (hello! iOS??) , but more choices are a good thing, and I’m excited to “discover” what comes next.
One very interesting thing is that they are going to have an “open” version of their MLS system which will be free to any MLS provider who wishes to implement the solution. This could be a potential game changer, but only time will tell.

I had a conversation with some of the principles and they were a lot more kind to C.A.R. than I would have been. They say they have been working on a new database structure which will allow a “front end of choice” solution when/if the California Statewide MLS system grows. I wonder if this is the first sign of the end of CARETS?
The team is very excited about the future and opportunity. But, I fear in order for the statewide MLS solution to be successful they need more of an expert on Machiavelli than Adobe.
