Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

Behind the headlines

Two bits of news that really struck me last week…

Keller Williams Realty to Launch eEdge, the Real Estate Industry’s
First Comprehensive Agent Business Platform
Seamless Solution Available to Network of More Than 80,000 Associates in February

Market Leader, back in the game.

The first thing that jumped out at me was the number, 80,000. That’s a lot of agents. And since most pricing is based on a per agent/per month basis the revenue adds up pretty quickly. So the next question I asked myself is who what the vendor behind the platform? The answer surprised me, Market Leader.

I had a chance to talk with Ian Morris, CEO of MarketLeader, and congratulate him on the deal. It’s great to see Ian and team win a big deal like this and really validate their platform and technology. I knew a lot of people in the industry that didn’t take KW’s RFP too seriously. Keller Williams is famous for being what I call a “centrally decentralized” franchise business. Many have been down the road with KW before only to have a deal be derailed toward the very end. Which makes this win by MarketLeader even more impressive.

HEADLINE #2
Century 21 Becomes First National Real Estate Franchisor to Implement IDX Indexing and Display Functionality in Compliance with New NAR Policy

eNeighborhoods, leading IDX innovation…again!

Missing from last weeks announcement about Century 21 being the first site to implement NAR’s new policy change of allowing indexed IDX listings on a Franchisor’s website was any mention of how they did it so fast. The answer is not surprising if you’ve been following the industry long enough. The secret to this quick implementation was in large part their vendor, eNeighborhoods. While I’m not a big fan of the look of Century 21’s site (too dark for my tastes) there is no arguing this it’s an impressive feat to get this up and running so quickly. But then again this is just another notch in IDX innovation for eNeighborhoods who were the first to help RE/MAX launch the “broker of idx websites” back in 2005, which everyone else soon copied. Kudos to the boys and girls in Boca!
