Thank you, next? In another sign that MLS organizations are starting to take control of their own destinies, Katie Smithson has left Zillow and taken a senior position at CRMLS.

CRMLS Appoints Katie Smithson as new Chief Revenue Officer

CHINO HILLS, Calif., November 7, 2022 — On November 15th, California Regional MLS (CRMLS) will welcome their latest executive appointment, Katie Smithson in the role of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Smithson is a long-time veteran in the real estate industry with a history of MLS relation management and product innovation. Smithson has been in the real estate industry for 14 years, most recently as Director of MLS Relations for Bridge Interactive with Zillow.

In her new role, Smithson will be directing revenue operations, ensuring proper communication and collaboration between all the revenue-generating departments at CRMLS. She will be charged with improving customer satisfaction, product strategy, and sales performance.

OneKey MLS names Richard Haggerty as new CEO

Richard Haggerty will be the next CEO of OneKey MLS starting Jan. 1. Haggerty will replace Jim Speer, who is retiring at the end of the year

” Richard Haggerty will be the next CEO of OneKey MLS starting Jan. 1. Haggerty is currently OneKey’s president and chief strategic growth officer and CEO of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors.

Hudson Gateway merged with the Long Island Board of Realtors in 2018 to form the MLS, which was then called New York MLS. Haggerty spearheaded that merger and the formation of the regional MLS, according to OneKey. Haggerty has been Hudson Gateway’s CEO for 38 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.”

Lots of retirements this year. And seriously who could blame them? This industry is heading for some big changes. Hard to imagine Jim not being there, I’ve always enjoyed heading to LIBOR’s MLS Tech Fair and seeing Jim there every year. I remember when they made the big announcement about OneKey MLS. Such a huge accomplishment. I guess he and Mosey will have more time seeing hockey games together.

NorthstarMLS announces new CEO, Tim Dain

Tim has some big shoes to fill. Doesn’t seem real that John is retiring, I’m sure I’ll have more to write about him in a later post.

It’s been quite a journey for Tim. He has definitely “seen it all” from broker to MLS, to vendor, and back again. Tim likes to mix it up so looking forward to this next chapter. Congrats to Tim and NorthstarMLS!

Adrese Roundtree joins Zillow

Word about this has been out there for a couple of weeks but Adrese made it official on his LinkedIn page. I was a bit surprised about the move, but you can’t fault Zillow for having an eye for talent.

I first met Adrese some 25 years ago, he had made the move from PRC/Interealty to OCMLS, which became SoCalMLS then CRMLS. You can’t be any more OG than belonging to the PRC mafia.

I also hear there has been a significant reorg in the agent product and industry relations team at Zillow. Along with these new strategic changes, I think we will see more new faces and some old ones departing. Developing…
