Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

A world without MLSNI?

mlsni.jpgIs the end near for our friends at MLSNI? Back on May 9th Inman reported that a judge in Chicago ordered MLSNI shareholders to participate in a vote, about merging MLSNI and MAP MLS, within 30 days. That date is fast approaching. This got us thinking of what a boring place the MLS world will be without the drama that is MLSNI. Remember Jay? Last rumor I heard was he was playing guitar in a band around town. website hosting information Some other stuff comes to mind; Running 4 (?) MLS systems at the same time, seems like they were the Petri dish for new MLS related technology solutions. What vendor didn’t have a contract with MLSNI?? And of course there was Brenda and REBIG.

And what about Brad, Richard, Lynn and the rest of the gang? A great group of people. It’s too soon to tell and anything can happen in Chicagoland but lets hope these industry professionals land on their feet.

CMLS- Council of MLS

cmls1.jpgWe just wanted to send another plug out there for this upcomming conference, CMLS. It’s being hosted in Seattle this year by NWMLS, October 10-12. Check out this website for details. Always a great time where vendors and treated like the business partners instead of being banned like lepers.

NAR Mid Year Recap

It’s over. Here’s a just a few of the happenings, stories, news and rumors…

Getting a phone call at midnight with a voice telling us that they are sending a black, unmarked, 5 7 series BMW to pick us up in 5 minutes in front of the Omni and don’t ask any questions to the driver.

The MarketLinx party-OFF THE HOOK! These guys are starting to get a rep of throwing one of the best industry parties around.

Andy Woolley flying in from Palm Beach with Alexander Haig.

RIS Media’s Power Broker Reception- Always a great time and they sure know how to draw all the heavies in the industry.

And it looks like the lobby bar at the Marriott will be back. While revamping the old restaurant they needed to relocate it, once the rennovation is done the bar should be back in place (there is a god!)

Also, we missed you Mike.

More stuff to come…

For the love of all that is good in the world what have they done!!!!

In a move that will surely have repercussions throught the industry, the management at the Wardman Marriott turned the lobby bar in to a restaurant. The place was a ghost town last night, looks like the bar at the Omni Shoreham at the bottom of “the hill” is the spot. More later.

San Antonio Leverages Threewide/FNRES Partnership

Morgantown, WV – May 9, 2007 – The San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) in Texas announced today they will be installing Threewide’s ListExporter™ to better control and manage their data feeds from their Paragon™ 3 MLS System provided by Fidelity National Real Estate Solutions’ (FNRES) MLS Systems and Solutions, a division of Fidelity National Financial, Inc.

“We are excited about using ListExporter with our Paragon 3 MLS system,” said Travis Kessler, Chief Executive Officer of SABOR. “Our members currently enjoy the benefits of our relationship with FNRES through the Paragon 3 system. By adding ListExporter, we now have more control over the data we are exporting from Paragon 3 and who we are sending it to. We can be more responsive to our data requests while safeguarding our members’ data. . The Threewide/FNRES partnership is a great example of how to combine two industry-proven products, through a seamless interface, to enable us to offer more products and services to our members,” Kessler concluded.

ListExporter, the industry standard for data exports, enables the MLS staff to selectively package listing data and images and send it to virtually any location in a variety of custom and industry standard formats. With ListExporter, data feeds can be sent on-demand or through a set schedule.

“We look forward to working with such a respected organization like SABOR,” said Rob Reid, Executive Vice President for Threewide. “The combination of ListExporter and Paragon 3 will only increase the value of SABOR’s product offering and help their members become more efficient and ultimately more profitable.”

narmidyear4.jpgNAR Mid Year! While thousands of Realtors storm our nation’s capital to try and keep banks out of real estate we live like moles in dark hospitality suites bathed in the light of data projectors, cursing hotel internet connections while eating pretzels and drinking warm beer. Only to escape the dungeon to emerge at night in Georgetown for steak dinners and mixed drinks.

Well it’s a tough gig but someone has to do it!

So here’s our Top 10 list of “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of NAR Mid Year”.

Number 10
Standing by the lobby elevators at the Wardman Park Marriott, waiting….waiting….and waiting.

Number 9
Trying to find a seat with a table at the lobby bar.

Number 8
“Who the hell booked a 7AM meeting at the suite???”

Number 7
Booth duty.

Number 6
“The Hill”

Number 5
The secret short cut from the Marriott to the Omni so you don’t have to go up and down “The Hill”

Number 4
A fully stocked bar, right in your own hotel room

Number 3
Alka Seltzer

Number 2
Going to see the Lincoln Memorial at night.

And Number 1 on the list of “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of NAR Mid Year”.

The way “per member, per month” just rolls right off the tounge.

Say it with me everyone, “per member, per month”….”per member, per month”….”per member, per month”.

See you there!!
