Sales shakeup at Rapattoni?

If you head over to the Rapattoni’s website you notice that Bill Andrews is missing.

Anyone know where Bill has ended up?

Another interesting side note is that Kevin Wolff is back. I had heard that Kevin had retired but now it turns out that he has rejoined Rapattoni.

Makes you wonder if Bill has found his “Endless Summer” and what lured Kevin out of retirement?

I'm sooooo looking forward to this Wednesday….

Last year I had a lot of fun with these.

I’ve got a few already written and ready to go. If you have any suggestions for posts email me at vendor dot alley at gmail.com

All 130 members of Madera Assn of REALTORS choose calREDD!!

According to a press release issued by CAR, four local associations including Fresno, Lake County, San Joaquin Valley (the Gateway to Yosemite), and Madera Assn. have signed up with calREDD. This represents about 3,500 of the 180,000 members (1.9%) of California Assn. of REALTORS.

From what I’m told Concentric Software (calREDD’s MLS Vendor) will not be their primary MLS system but run in parallel with their existing MLS systems.

I’m curious to know what MLS vendor these associations are currently using. If you know, please comment.

Madera County Association of REALTORS® 2009 President E’Mira Torres commented in the press release…
““We were searching for a new MLS system that provides an innovative way of sharing property information data, is on the leading edge of technology, and is cost-effective and user-friendly,…”

Congrats Concentric!

Fargo

25flood-600

Fargo is a pretty big news story right now. Flood waters are rising as the town pulls together to stop the water from overflowing in to homes.

Fargo is also home to FBS Data Systems. Mike Wurzer is FBS’s CEO.
Many of you read Mike’s blog.. Mike is also a good friend.

Just wanted to say we are all thinking of you Mike, and your team at FBS. Godspeed guys and stay safe!!

Is Rapattoni suing Concentric Software?

I’ve heard from multiple sources that Rapattoni has issued Concentric Software a cease and desist letter. Concentric Software website was down for a short time this morning, further fueling rumors.

Concentric’s founder is a former Rapattoni employee as are some of their key managers.

Can anyone else confirm or deny this???

If this is true is would be a huge stumbling block for CAR and CalREDD and its bid to be the state-wide MLS of California. It doesn’t say too much for their much touted vetting process either.

UPDATE:
RUMOR has been denied by Rich Igou, Concentric’s founder.

Jon Stewart is a national hero.

Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart interviewed Jim Cramer of CNBC’s Mad Money. He’s been calling the network out for hypocrisy all week.

“You knew what the banks were doing and yet you were touting it for months and months. The entire network was. And so, now to pretend that this was some sort of crazy, once in a life tsunami that nobody could have seen coming is disingenuous at best and criminal at worst….Who side are they on [CNBC]? It feels like they have to reconcile; is their audience the wall street traders that are doing this for constant profits on a day to day, the short term? These guys at these companies were on a Sherman’s March through their companies financed by our 401Ks. And all the incentives of their companies were for short term profit and they burned the fucking house down with our money and walked away rich as hell, and you guys knew that was going on.”

Word to the muther!

CalREDD MLS system "up and operational" today????

I was checking out Inman’s coverage on CALMLS and found this bit of honey…

“Silvas said he expects the new Concentric system will be “up and operational” in beta testing within the next 45 days, and he expects that the rollout of the statewide system will begin with the participation of some MLSs by June.”

That was from an article dated January 26th, 2009. Which means the CALMLS, eerrr sorry SEE-RED, errr sorry CalREDD MLS system will be “up and operational” MARCH 12th 2009, which is TODAY. And if they don’t have any MLS participating what exactly are they beta testing?

Has anyone seen an “up and operational” beta version of the new Concentric CalREDD MLS system?

Are real estate trade shows dead?

2963466947_222c1e1730

I’ve been getting reports from some of the industry trade shows, most notably the IBC (International Business Conferences) for Coldwell Banker, Century 21, and ERA. Realogy held these events in San Antonio, TX.

The reports are just plain ugly. Little to no attendees. Staff hiding from exhibitors for fear of being pelted with questions about attendance. Exhibitors just plain leaving, not wanting to waste any more money on hotel rooms and other travel expenses.

RE/MAX’s conference did much better than most (most likely due to the fact they held their event in Las Vegas, NV)

I heard that Alex Perriello, Realogy’s President and CEO, announced they were going to suspend the annual conferences for the foreseeable future.

This gets me wondering, are we going through a rough patch, a phase, or are things never going to be the same again?

What do you think?

UPDATE:
Maybe trade shows aren’t dead, they just need another format.
