It’s rare when I see an idea that strikes me as so utterly brilliant and clever that I can only stop and stare at my computer screen in awe. But industry vet Troy Rech has done just that, a mashup that has brought together the hive mind that is the RE.net, waiting for your next flight, and an ordinary mobile phone with a camera.

Shane McCarthy has left VisualTour and joined RISMedia new “Top 5 in Real Estate“, headed by former President of Realtor.com, Allan Dalton.
Here’s how Allan describes “Top 5”:
“By joining this unique real estate network, you are signaling to consumers that you have earned elite status within your profession. Consumers will take note that membership is reserved for only those North American real estate agents who have satisfied five “consumer-valued criteria.”
I’m not sure what that means. But Shane is definitely on my “Top 5” list of persons for selling software to Realtors.

One of the many weird things last week was how many companies were declared dead or dying. Rob Hahn, aka The Nortorious R.O.B., sure lived up to this moniker, had the largest body count with 3 companies.
Rob’s post last Friday, at the RPR session, declared both eNeighborhoods and OnBoard were dying.
Rob went on later on to declare “the death of RPR” that Saturday. Ouch!
Brian Boero echoed the death theme in a blog post by repeating the often whispered nickname given to the RPR as “The Reaper”.
Others were even declaring the death of MLS! Or that LPS‘ “uber deal” with NAR, was a stab in the heart to First American.
Another interesting story I heard was that C.A.R.’s calREDD initiative was going to be scuttled (remorphed in to something else?) in the next month or so, but this is old news to me.
This doesn’t sound like a NAR conference, it sounds like a Slasher Film!!
I’m not sure I agree with all these dire predictions but one thing is for sure, a lot of blood will be spilled.
Don’t forget to come by our Suite and help us finish drinking all the booze we have left!
The fun starts at 5PM and goes to 6:30PM.

I’ve just learned that NAR’s Second Century Ventures (SCV) just made a significant investment in DocuSign.
DocuSign was recently in the news when it just announced a deal with FBS.
It’s been quite awhile since SCV has made any deals. The last deal was ePropertyData (ePD), a provider of commercial information exchange (CIE) services for the commercial real estate industry. That was back in March 2008.
I’ve also heard that they have been adding staff to SCV.
It will be interesting to see what Constance Freedman, Vice President of Strategic Investments of SCV, has up her sleeve next.
I just finished reading The WAV Group’s “Terms of Listing Syndication to Third Party Websites”. Not exactly the morning newspaper, but some of the content was more shocking than a local hit and run. In fact “hit and run” is exactly how to describe some of terms of these websites.
I’m not sure if MLS providers and brokers are even aware of most of this stuff.

As was previously reported United Technologies Corp was seriously considering buying Supra’s parent GE Security. Now it looks like Supra it’s a done deal.
