Homes.com adds MLS direct feeds from 9 MLS providers.

Homes.com Adds Nine Direct MLS Feeds
Consumers visiting Homes.com will see more accurate listing information

“The display agreement provides Homes.com with data from the following MLS organizations: Houston Association of REALTORSÒ, California Regional MLS, MetroList Services (Sacramento area), Southland Regional Association of REALTORS (San Fernando Valley, CA), BAREIS (North San Francisco counties), MLSListings (Monterey to Silicon Valley), Intermountain MLS (Boise, Idaho), MLS Property Information Network (New England), and Midwest Real Estate Data (greater Chicago area).”

Super Impressive. Those are some of the largest and most respected MLS providers in the country. Plus think about the number of listings they have. This is a HUGE deal for Homes.com and win for consumers. If they keep this up their ListHub feeds might be regulated to just smaller MLS markets.

Then there’s this…

“Homes.com is an industry partner with a deep commitment to creating connections between real estate professionals and consumers. We believe that this starts with a direct relationship with local MLSs,” said Brock MacLean, executive vice president of Homes.com. “Through agreements with these nine MLS organizations, more than 200,000 MLS members will now be able to leverage traffic from more than 12.5 million homebuyers who visit Homes.com monthly, better connecting their member agents and brokers with active consumers.”

Riiiiight. It took a super connected dude like Brock McLean to get these deals done.

Thoughts on REALTOR Ethics.

Whenever I hear REALTORS, or anyone for that matter, beating their chest that they subcribe to a “higher” standard I think of this famous letter from Abraham Lincoln:

My dear,
It has been my experience that those with no vices have very few virtues.
They just haven’t lived enough to have enough true virtues.
For living, truly living, means encountering vices which hold you so dearly that you never leave them. And continuing to live with those vices is what develops true virtues.
A man cannot be considered strong unless he’s been battle tested. And a person cannot have true virtues unless they’ve been tested with vices they cannot resist.
This is what I know.
Falsely yours,
Abraham Lincoln

[Emphasis mine, not Abe’s.]

People will deem you trustworthy by your actions, not by the pin you put on your lapel, the collar around your neck, or your address on Wall Street.

In case you haven’t heard, Zillow is crushing it!

Speechless.

Signs that N.A.R. might actually be growing a pair.

Screen Shot 2013-07-25 at 6.18.54 AMWhile some think yesterday’s approval of changes to the operating agreement between the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and MOVE,Inc. are incremental I’m pretty impressed. Here’s why.

As reported by Andrea V. Brambila from Inman News:

NAR approves ‘historic’ changes to realtor.com operating agreement

“At a much-anticipated special meeting in Chicago, the board of directors of the National Association of Realtors voted today to give realtor.com operator Move Inc. more flexibility to publish listings from sources beyond those provided by Realtors, including additional new homes and rental properties”

I’m calling out this one section of the agreement because I think its significant. This is going to make the loyal REALTOR blue members bat-shit crazy. You can already see it in the comments of article itself. They are all screaming what about our “code of ethics!” You are destroying our brand. Blah, blah, blah. NAR knew this was going to be a big issue with a vocal portion of their members and and they still did it. That my friend is what you call leadership.

NAR also caught a ton of shit from their membership for the rebranding of REALTOR.com. Some of their members lost their freaking minds because the letter “R” wasn’t capitalized. WTF?

The issues facing REALTORS are not ethics or capitalization, the issue is relevance. It seems NAR is finally getting it.

NAR approves 3 motions. Looks like the chains might be coming off.

Word is getting out. Looks like they released some of the chains.

Included – Non-MLS listed properties [New Homes, Rentals]. -[UPDATED]
Performance based Realtor search tool.
Display Foreclousure status without broker approval [UPDATED]
“Reinforce” the “value of a REALTOR” on site.

Possible third motion approved. Still no details. I think Inman News might have something shortly.

Crazy Rumor Alert! – NAR may keep “chains” on Realtor.com

Screen Shot 2013-07-23 at 12.34.07 PMIf this rumor is true you have to wonder who’s holding the brain at NAR.

Despite a lot of rhetoric of, “unchaining” Realtor.com, NAR may leave Realtor.com operating agreement fully in place, with no changes. Period.

I’m sure they are prepping the champagne bottles at Trulia and Zillow’s offices if this turns out to be true.

This got me thinking. What if this is true? What is the alternative? What type of message does that send to their membership and the market itself.

This “secret” meeting of board of directors reminds me of when they pick a Pope. But instead of white smoke coming from the chimney will Dale Stinton come out waving a white flag of surrender to Trulia and Zillow?

Talk about “Holy Shit!”

NAR’s “Secret” BOD Meeting Agenda -See it here.

A little birdie sent me the agenda for NAR’s “Secret” BOD meeting in Chicago this week. This is supposed to be the meeting where they vote to “unchain” Realtor.com.

Blog post raises questions on esign and document security

eight-eleven-logoTracey Weir, former chief marketing and sales officer at Inman News, has started a new consulting company dubbed, Eight11. On her blog she’s been putting out some great content about real estate and marketing. I’m adding her to the Vendor Alley blogroll today.

Recently she did an excellent post entitled:

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW NOW ABOUT ESIGN AND DOCUMENT SECURITY

Along with the post was a great video. The video is well done and helps, even an idiot like me, understand the different types of document security. So if you ever want to learn more about security issues related to e-signatures this is a great place to start.

The video does raise questions on how some companies, most notably dotloop, handles document security.

So show Tracy some love and check out her site, Eight11.com, her past articles are also equally good.
