Looking for a new gig?

Marketing and Communications Manager – Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS)

“Working remotely as a key player on a small, agile team, the marketing and communications manager will have a strong work ethic, be trustworthy and able to work well (self-managed) under deadline pressure with a broad range of responsibilities. They will understand their value as a leader, a follower, a team player, and collaborator. Someone who rises to challenges, assists in sharing CMLS’ voice and tone, clearly identifying specific audiences and interacting with a wide variety of people throughout the industry. As the role grows, they will proactively learn new systems and best practices to facilitate the success of the position and achievement of mutually defined goals.”

I think this would be a perfect gig for someone who is already in the industry. Here’s how to apply.

NEXT STEPS:
Submit a cover letter, resume and salary requirements to jobs [at] councilofmls [dot] org with “CMLS Marketing & Communications Manager” in the subject line.

Submit a writing sample: a press release you would craft to announce your own hire.

Be available for a few interviews.

OneKey MLS grows to 42,000 members

New York’s OneKey MLS gets bigger with merger

“The Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, which formed OneKey MLS with the Long Island Board of Realtors in 2018, has merged with the Bronx-Manhattan North Association of Realtors (BMNAR). BMNAR, which had about 150 agent and broker members before the merger, previously operated its own MLS, the Bronx-Manhattan MLS. That MLS will be retired by year end and former BMNAR members will transition over to OneKey MLS where they will enter their current inventory, a Hudson Gateway AOR spokesperson told Inman via email.”

Missed this news last week. Maybe I blocked it out because I so bummed that they had to cancel the LIBOR MLS Tech Fair this year. Such good people and a great event.

EATME

I’m loving RESO’s new album cover campaign, promoting the upcoming RESO REMOTE. But I think someone forgot to tell realtor.com to remove the hidden messaging in The Beastie Boys, Licenced to Ill Album. The tail number is “3MTA3”, which backward reads EAT ME.

While nothing can come close to seeing everyone in person there were some pretty special moments at the virtual CMLS 2020 conference this year. Big thanks to Denee and all the volunteers for making this happen. #cmls2020

Speaking of CMLS, Dave Howe will have to big shoes to fill after the tremendous job Brad Bjelke has done as CMLS chair. Brad is also taking a hard line on standards.

The real estate market is hot! To see how hot check out the new website ClimateCheck.com launched by a familiar name, if you happen to recognize the name “Inman”, you’ll see it twice.

Looks like someone showed Gary Keller a spreadsheet of what he would be worth if he took Keller Williams public.

It seems everyday 2020 outdoes itself. But this news hit me harder than I thought it would. I could probably still draw you a good Van Halen logo even today for as many times as I sketched in on my Pee Chee folder back in the day.

Click here to find the book that generated this review:

“My wife and I both read the book and it really gives practical advice and actions one can take. Read it soon before everyone else does!”

Don’t forget to tip your bartenders and waitresses.

I miss seeing all of you. Take care of each other and have a great weekend.

Dave Howe of MetroList Services takes chair position of CMLS

MetroList Executive Dave Howe Named Chair of the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) For 2021

The Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) is an association of over 200 MLSs committed to high standards of professionalism and performance. The CMLS is a leader in defining practices to improves MLS operations and leadership, advance policies to promote innovation, and convene gatherings like the annual conference to foster growth.

“I am very honored to have been selected by my industry peers to serve as chair of the CMLS Board of Directors,” said Dave Howe, Vice President of MetroList. “The CMLS is an invaluable resource to MLSs across the United States and with my passion for our industry, I will continue to build upon the great work CMLS has achieved in building a better marketplace for our member organizations.”

I’ve often said Dave is “the hardest working man in the MLS business”, and it’s great to see that hard work pay off. Congrats Dave, well deserved.

Leadership and structure changes at KW

Gary Keller steps back from CEO role in massive leadership shuffle at KW

Keller Williams is naming Carl Liebert, a retail, financial services and industrial services veteran, as CEO of the newly created KWx, a holding company that encompasses all of the Keller Williams brands, including, Keller Williams Realty, Keller Williams Worldwide, Keller Mortgage, Keller Covered and Keller Offers.
As part of this large-scale leadership facelift, current CEO and co-founder Gary Keller will shift from CEO to the role of executive chairman of KWx. Josh Team — who previously led KW Labs as chief innovation officer prior to being named president — will stay on as president of Keller Williams Realty, the senior-most role of the franchise business, which will no longer have a CEO. Keller’s CEO duties of the franchisor arm will be transferred to Team.

Some are reading a lot of drama into this. But my guess is they are simply preparing for an IPO. I’ve always been super curious about their revenue makeup and if they go public all this information with be accessible.

ClimateCheck.com offers reports to tell how Climate Change will affect your home.

ClimateCheck calculates climate change risk for homeowners

“With every day that passes, climate change becomes more of an imminent threat to our livelihoods. This year, and nearly every other year in recent memory, wildfires have ravaged the West Coast while hurricanes have wreaked havoc across the Gulf Coast. But even as environmental concerns increase, it’s hard for homeowners to accurately and easily determine if their property is at risk.

An online platform launched on Wednesday called ClimateCheck aims to change that by taking the guesswork out of climate threats for homeowners by allowing instant access to a property’s vulnerability to environmental impacts related to climate change. “

One of those ideas, you think somebody would have already launched since it’s so obvious. I was able to order the full report and surprised by the amount of data, over 30 pages worth. The PDF report pages are nicely laid out with easy to understand data visualizations.

I think consumers are going to love this and can see it become some sort of standard report being offered when you are purchasing a home.
