Robert Hewes Obituary

“He then moved to Naples in 1989. Bob joined Downing-Frye Realty, Inc. on August 5, 1992. Over the years, he won numerous company awards. Since 2009, Bob has been one of the trainers for DowningFrye agents. His expertise was focused on technology. Since 1992 Bob was an active member of the Naples Area Board of Realtors (NABOR). He served on many committees at NABOR and was inducted into the Florida Association of Realtors Honor Society and NABOR Honor Society in 1992. His numerous accomplishments include NABOR Educator of the Year in 1995, Realtor of the Year in 1997, President’s Award Recipient in 1999 and REALTOR Committee Contribution Award in 1999 and 2011. He received the Member Spotlight Award in 1999 and 2002 and was awarded the Task Force Contribution Award in 2009 and 2013. He has been a Director at NABOR since 2010. He received the Committee Member Spotlight in 2010 and was inducted into the NABOR Hall of Fame in 2013.”

A couple of vendor friends have reached out to me about Bob’s passing. Any vendor over the last 10 to 15 years doing business in Florida had worked with Bob. For some reason I always thought he had been an actor previously. He kind had that old school “leading man” look. Just recently Katie and I worked with him on getting Cloud CMA available in the Naples area. Such a loss to the industry, he really cared and gave a lot. I’m sure everyone shares my heart felt condolences for his family. May he rest in peace.

RIP Beverly Faull

November 20,2014

Dear Friends and Partners,

Our team is heartbroken to share the news that our colleague and dear friend, Beverly Faull passed away earlier this week after a brave battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. An accomplished real estate industry veteran, Beverly became a member of the Down Payment Resource team in 2009 and recently celebrated her fifth anniversary with the company.

We have all admired her professional spirit and tenacity over the years. Beverly believed wholeheartedly in the company’s mission of helping homebuyers access down payment programs. She worked tirelessly to grow DPR to 21 MLSs and Realtor Associations. Prior to DPR, Beverly served in countless leadership roles in the real estate industry, including CEO of the Tucson Association of REALTORS and MLS, CEO of North Texas Real Estate Information Systems, vice president of operations at HomeSeekers.com, head of the MLS division for Fidelity National Real Estate Solutions and ran her own consulting company. Her long standing relationships across the industry demonstrate her strong work ethic.

We were also privileged to witness the dedication she has to her family and faith. She leaves behind three sisters, two daughters and two grandchildren, Ciarra (17) and Zaylor (3), whom she adopted and was raising over the past two years.

Beverly’s family requested that any donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We’re also compiling messages and memories from her real estate colleagues in a special book for her family. If you wish to share a message, please send it to us at info@downpaymentresource.com.

Our team has the highest admiration for Beverly, both personally and professionally. We will miss her dearly.

Sincerely,

Rob Chrane and the DPR team

Oh Bev, I had no idea. Hard to process this right now. I worked with Bev at HomeSeekers.com, she gave so much to this industry and was so passionate. My thoughts go out to her family.

RIP Eric Graning

Graning-500x626 This one is tough. Not sure if I was going to write about it but needed to say something. Many of you know Kristi Graning while she worked at RE/MAX International. I first got to know her while working at eNeighborhoods when we worked with her closely re-launching remax.com as a “network of broker idx sites”. It became the standard for how modern broker and franchise portals work today. Kristi was our leader in that effort. We spent many long days, nights and weekends getting that project done. Flying back and forth from Florida to Colorado. It was one of the most rewarding times in my professional life. Around that time Kristi was pregnant, the joke was she was giving birth to two babies, the new remax.com and her new baby boy.

Kristi’s husband, Eric, recently died in a tragic motorcycle accident. So heartbreaking for Kristi and their two young boys, Tey and Dax.

You can read about Eric here. A celebration of Eric life is being held today.

I can’t be there today Kristi but please know I, and many others, are thinking of you and your loss today.

Robin Williams – RIP

“O Captain! My Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:

But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! My Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;

Here captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;

Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.”

Died May 13, 2014

“In 1978, Judith was hired as the Executive Vice President for the Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® (TAAR) and she served in this capacity for 29 years before retiring in 2007. During her tenure, Judith was instrumental in the development of the first computerized Multiple Listing Service (MLS); Board of REALTORS® Information Service (BORIS), which was the precursor to the modern day online MLS system. She helped develop the statewide MLS property database in Michigan, designed and implemented two charitable corporations, HomeStart and HomeStretch that focus on affordable housing.”

Many of us first heard about this at the MLS Executives Forum in D.C. last week. She loved this industry. What a loss.

Remembering Pat Bybee

Pat Bybee and me500It was about a year ago this week we lost Pat to a tragic auto accident. I recently found this old photo of her and I. I think it’s at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, when she hosted a CMLS event.

Natalie Kotsch, REALTOR, founder of Huntington Beach Surf Museum passes away.

Natalie Kotsch
Natalie Kotsch
I didn’t know Natalie personally. But she was a staple in the Huntington Beach real estate scene. I remember her as a customer of our first software app, Lightning. Right outside our Main Street office is the Surfer’s Walk of Fame, she has a spot. When we stepped out to lunch yesterday I saw a candle was lit over her name along with some flowers.

Unlikely founder of Huntington surf museum dies

“She watched surfers young and old enjoy the ocean.
“I’d see those little ones with their blue lips and their wetsuits, walking down the street after their surf lessons,” Kotsch said in a 1988 article. “If that doesn’t melt your heart, I don’t know what does.”

There are many great memories of travel with family and friends. Despite all of his business travel, he never missed his children’s events.”
