OMG!
I’m not sure if this is a new trend or something that I’m just being made aware of, but people are starting to show up in listing photos. And not just ordinary people, but scantly clad females……in a pillow fights?
Here a are just a few “listing photos” I recently pulled from this agent’s website (not craigslist!):

I wonder if this is going to be brought up at NAR’s next MLS policy committee meeting? Possibly a new classification, IDseX?
Thank you. Thank you. I’ll be here all night, don’t forget to tip your bartenders and waitresses!

When IDX first started I remember a guy in the MD area who bought a page from MRIS’s homesdatabase.com. His profile pic was one in which he wore nothing but a towel. I wonder if any of the other old-schoolers remember that. Very, very funny!
Wow! Trashy!
I’m not inspired to buy though.
One of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, one of your favorite shows I’m sure, is selling her house and appeared in a few of her home’s shots. Maybe if you are a celeb it could work (not sure this example necessarily qualifies..).
Ok then! From our research we know photos are extremely important to site visitors but hand in hand with that is the accuracy of photos. Folks tend to suspect those wide-angle pics that make small rooms look huge. Not sure how this will play out. But then again, maybe the luxury market is different :).
Well, if this is the start of a new trend, it’s not unique to the US. The Sydney Morning Herald in Australia just ran an article calling out a property listing video that included underwear models: http://smh.domain.com.au/real-estate-news/a-new-low-for-real-estate-agents-as-underwear-models-brought-in-20110212-1arjk.html
For anyone interested in hearing more about the thinking behind this, Inman News ran a story by Mary Umberger in October profiling the brokers — Nick and Miriam Peters — who are experimenting with this “lifestyle marketing.” Miriam Peters is a model in some of the shoots.
Note that with this listing at least, the you will only see the pics with models on the brokerage’s website, not the public facing MLS or Realtor.com.
