Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

VFlyer launches, Lasso, a home search collaboration tool.

Agents and consumers can organize, communicate and share listings from around the Web

“Once a listing is corralled within Lasso, users can rate the listing out of five stars, make comments on it and add tags. Users can share their corral of listings with friends or family, who then can see the ratings, comments, tags and listings the user has on Lasso.

Lasso also automatically updates changes to listings every day by checking source sites through an automated program that notes changes in homes’ for-sale or for-rent status, their price and other info.”

Maybe REALTORS will find Lasso easier to spell than Dwellicious.

Opera singer? I had no idea.

doorsteps_1Great write up on Michele Serro. Michele company DOORSTEPS was acquired by MOVE, Inc last year.

The article reveals, among other things, that she was an opera singer once.

Her team recently launched the Swipe app I featured here a few weeks ago.

How a Home Buying Site Went From Beta to Bought in 18 Months

How does your design background play a role in Doorsteps?
Design is a value, and everything we put into the world is well-designed. Well-designed is not necessarily about how [something] looks; it’s how it behaves [and] how it feels. Design can be extended to taking complex information and making it simple and understandable.

That extends to how the code is written and how we think about error messages on the site. An error message that is unfriendly is not going to help with making you feel confident about us or the process. We want to make sure those error messages feel good, and the pages where you are giving really personal information, that they give you a message back that you completed [the form]. That’s very tactical.

We’ve tried to infuse that into everything we do, from the code and the technology to the actual visual design and community management. It’s about getting back to people in a really timely way, responding to them like a human being, not like a robot, and using human language that people understand.”

I’m super curious to see what the team at DOORSTEPS comes up with next or how their influence will shape MOVE’s products going forward.

Stay tuned for big news this Thursday.

2014 is shaping up to be a wild year!

Over 1,000 brokers send their listings to Zillow directly.

Zillow ‘Pro for Brokers’ participation takes off
Portal receiving direct listing feeds from more than 1,000 brokers

Paul Hagey for Inman News

Zillow is now receiving listings directly from more than 1,000 brokers under its 2-year-old Zillow Pro for Brokers program.

The program, which Zillow launched in June 2012, has grown rapidly in recent months. Last fall Zillow announced that approximately 200 brokers were enrolled.

Impressive.

“Both Zillow and Trulia have been making a push to get direct feeds from brokers and multiple listing services to improve the accuracy, timeliness and comprehensiveness of their listing databases. Their chief rival, realtor.com, gets listings directly from over 800 MLSs across the U.S.”

I’m starting to get a better idea of what Curt meant by the “save ListHub” plan.

Trulia making moves….

Just last week Trulia announced a direct data license with MFRMLS and now today they announced a deal with the Austin Board of REALTORS…, yeah you read that right, Austin.

AUSTIN BOARD OF REALTORS® PARTNERS WITH TRULIA TO PROTECT DATA ACCURACY
Publisher’s agreement to ABoR’s data integrity standards helps ensure accurate listing data for Austin-area homebuyers and sellers

“ABoR created the data integrity standards to ensure that brokers’ listing data is used and displayed in a responsible, ethical manner. The standards address many common data quality issues for homebuyers and sellers, such as the display of outdated, inaccurate, and off-market listings, and are consistent with MLS rules and the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. Trulia is the first publisher to sign a data license agreement under ABoR’s new data integrity standards.”

Looks like Trulia moved pretty quickly and made some major commitments to make this deal happen. Interesting to see where Zillow shakes out on this. If this deal with Austin sets a precedent on what terms MLS providers will work with portals on direct MLS feeds, and Zillow doesn’t want to adhere to those new “data integrity standards”, it could be the beginning of a big shift.

Oh yeah, Trulia also announced a new tablet app (iOS and Android) for agents. I gotta say, more and more I find that the iPad is one of the best sales tool ever created.
