Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

Many MLS Execs and vendors featured on 2018 SP200 list

Swanepoel Power 200

Leaders are evaluated based on the office they hold, the decision-making power associated with the office, the financial resources at their disposal, their organization’s industry significance and geographical reach, public announcements about imminent changes, their tenure and their personal influence in the industry.

Number 1 on the list this year is Gary Keller. Hard to overstate KW’s influence. They are currently the number one brand by agent count, and Gary’s writing have launched many a real estate career.

Bob Hale jumped two spots this year to #32, Art Carter made a big leap from #70 to #49. The list also included, Tom Philips, the venerable David Charron,Teresa King Kinney, Merri Jo Cowen, Rebecca Jensen, former CMLS president Kathy Condon, Jim Harrison, Matt Consalvo, Cantey Davis, Dionna Halland Anne Marie DeCatsye and Dale Ross of RPR.

Other MLS Industry folks sprinkled on the list included Errol Samuelson, who jumped two spots, Chris Bennett, Ben Graboske, Mike Wurzer, Marilyn Wilson, Victor Lund, Chip McAvoy, Gregg Larson, Denee Evans, and Mitch Skinner.

In the notable section of the report, Stefan highlighted a few people. Two of them I’m very interested in, Nick Bailey (#22), new CEO of Century 21. Nick is a Zillow alum, which could make things interesting. And of course Eric Wu, chief product developer for Zillow and Redfin errr… I mean CEO of OpenDoor (and former Trulia alum) ????

Some new blood I noticed was Leo Pareja of Remine, and taking one of my previous spots at #199, Andrew Flachner (who also happens to be a huge Demi Lovato fan, but that’s another story).

I’m also very flattered to be included on the list as at number #180, which is down from last year at #179. Yikes! I better get to more writing.

Big thanks you to Stefan Swanepoel and Jack Miller. And congrats to everyone!

BTW – Look for a new Listing Bits Podcast this week featuring Jack Miller of T3 Sixty. We had a great conversation that I’m sure many of you will enjoy.

Also, Sorry if I missed anyone, please email if I made an error.

RESO Best In Show

HomeSpotter, Agent Inbox and TrustFunds Win Top Tech Honors at RESO Show N Tell

“More than 330 real estate technology and business leaders — a new conference attendance record for RESO, which develops, adopts and implements data standards and process for all real estate transactions — voted to select the winners of the 2016 RESO “Show N Tell.” Attendees represented the full spectrum of the real estate industry, including real estate brokerages, Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), and real estate technology providers.”

I’m a bit late on this (as usual) but I wanted to mention the vendors that won “Best At Show” at the last RESO Conference (which was great BTW, good for you Jeremy!). Top spot was taken by Aaron Kardell of Homespotter, and honorable mention given to Tyler Gordon and his app Agent Inbox and Lynn Leegard of TrustFunds. Congrats to all of them.

Cloud MLX named as finalist for Inman Innovator Award

Cloud_MLX_symbol_blue2016 Inman Innovator Awards

“The Inman Innovator Awards are given each year to recognize and celebrate industry innovation and accomplishments.

Who qualifies?
In some cases, a specific app, technology or business process qualifies someone for consideration. In other cases, the company as a whole consistently tries new things, adopts new technology or creates a new culture or approach to real estate.”

Super stoked that Cloud MLX made the cut as one of the most innovative technologies in real estate!

CRMLS wins “Most Innovative MLS” award from Inman Inman. Celeste Starchild from ListHub also honored.

Congrats to Art Carter and the rest of the CRMLS team for winning this year’s Inman 2015 Innovator Award winner for “Most innovative MLS”. Inman news cited “has been clawing away at getting local MLS organizations to participate in its shareable database of listings, which will expedite innovation.” I think what made the difference for CRMLS was the well crafted messaging, videos and social media around their #ItsMyBiz campaign.

Also happy to see Celeste Starchild being recognized as one of the “four women who have shown leadership in the constant pursuit of innovation. Susan Daimler from Zillow, Chelsea Goyer from Redfin, and Dottie Herman from Douglas Elliman Real Estate. I’d like to see this list kept going and expanded next year, there are many others deserving to be recognized.

Swanepoel’s “Power 200” list includes many MLS execs and vendors.

logoStephan Swanepoel just released his list of “the most powerful people in residential real estate 2014/15”. Dubbed the “Power 200” the list includes many MLS executives, consultants and vendors in real estate.

Bob Hale, David Charon, Art Carter, Jim Harrison, Merri Jo Cowen, Tom Phillips, Kathy Condon, Teresa King Kinney, and Kipp Cooper made the list under (Organized Real Estate).

Denee Evans, new CEO of CMLS, also made the list.

A few industry consultants and publishers made the list as well under the “Thought Leader” category: Brad Inman, Marilyn and Victor Lund, Gregg Larson, Brian Boero, Marc Davison, Ann Bailey, Brian Larson and Lani and Benn Rosales.

The list also includes many vendors, such as Andy Rapattoni, Rich Lull, Michael Wurzer, Jay Gaskill, Curt Beardsley, Chris Bennett, and Lorne Wallace.

I was also very honored to be included on the list in the “Technology” category no less! I just squeaked in at #199 (as it should be), just beating out Morgan Carey of Real Estate Webmasters! I’m sure this will cause Morgan to lose a lot of sleep at night. ; )

The list was curated by Stefan Swanepoel and Rob Hahn. So my thanks to them.

Which gives me a great segue to plug the T3 Summit Conference. The conference is being held April 8th to 10th this year at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas. The conference is 3 years old now and I’ve been to each one. I’ve written about it in the past and I think this latest conference will be their best one yet.

Here’s a highlight reel from last year.

My favorites include Stefan’s interviews, and when Rob Hahn takes the stage with his “black swan” conspiracy theories.

Katie Smithson and I will be attending this year so I hope to see you there.

There are some limitations on registrants (I think it sold out last year) but you can find out more info here. http://www.t3summit.com/register/

My thanks again to Stefan and his team. Nice surprise to wake up to!
