Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

Cloud CMA lands in PDX

[REPOSTED FROM LIGHTNING | TWICE]

We’ve been busy.  Last month we successfully launched Cloud CMA in the Phoenix area (ARMLS).  This month we are launching Cloud CMA is the great city of Portland (RMLS)!

Response to Cloud CMA has been fantastic. Here’s one of latest testimonials from a customer…

“I do want to compliment you and your service. The ease of getting to your site via the internet AND my iPhone was AWESOME. I met with my local contact on the property in question yesterday at 11:30 am. But the client who is the decision maker is in NYC. I had an Open House yesterday and I needed to desperately send him the CMA before someone else got the business. As it turned out, when I got to my Open House and I had a break, I was able to log onto the site EASILY!!!!! (BETTER THAN GOING TO MY MLS). I emailed him both the link and the PDF file from my iPhone. And I was able to speak to the client FIRST and review the CMA with him. Because of the ease of this site. I will get the listing. I am sure. I will know tomorrow. But I am 100% confident I will get it.”  –Joe Mendez

Joe got back to us the next day.  He got the listing.  Boom!

As part of the launch of Cloud CMA in Portland we are sponsoring the “buzzre” event in Portland next week on June 3rd at McMenamin’s Edgefield.  You can find out details of the event hereWe expect close to 200 in attendance, so I’m hoping to meet a lot of people at the event and after party.

I attended a similar event here in Orange County and was impressed with the content and speakers a really happy the timing worked out.

So lot’s going on and let me be the first one to welcome our new customers in Portland and a big thanks to Kurt, John, Christina, Gail and the rest of the RMLS team for helping us get up and running.

Russ Bergeron’s Farewell Party Pics

I had a chance to stop by Russ Bergeron‘s farewell party last Friday.  I was just coming back from a week long trip in Jacksonville, FL.  It was well attended by Orange County real estate big wigs.  I told Russ he would be sorely missed.  Looks like he is ready for a new challenge.  Here are a couple pics from the event.

Good luck Russ and Godspeed!

Party was just getting started.

Google is Awesome, Next up Apple

Have you been to Google’s Home Page today?  In celebration of the 30th anniversary of PacMan they have a sweet in-browser implementation of the game.

Press the Insert Coin button twice and you get Ms. Pac Man.

You control Pac Man with the arrow keys and Ms. Pac Man with the W-A-S-D keys.

I quit after 20,000 points–its back to work now that I/O is over!

But not before trying to track down the source code, check it out:

WWDC, the Apple equivalent of Google I/O is next month.  I won’t be attending but look forward to the innovation they show off.

Disclosure: I have a full size PacMan arcade game in my house.

I will have one final Google I/O post summarizing my trip soon, it includes my top five free gifts, wow moments, correct predictions, incorrect predictions, discovered technology and food items.  Look for that next week.

Thursday May 20 Google I/O Updates from Mark Scheel of Digital Construction

RPR, so it begins….

I was expecting some bigger numbers from RPR but there were a few MLS providers that they came up with that were quite impressive.

I hear more MLS’ will be announced in the near future, as RPR trys to manage expectations.

SoCalMLS
Orange County, CA

MLS PIN
Boston, MA

ARMLS
Phoenix, AZ

Metrolist
Denver, CO

Heartland MLS
Kansas City, KS

Decisions, decisions, decisions…

CMLS has been in the news a lot lately.  They issued a letter to NAR concerning the ability for MLS providers to require photos and also published a report called:

New Ways To Leverage MLS Data

CMLS commissioned The WAV Group to put the report together.  I had many people reference the report to me when I was out in D.C.  But for those few of you who have not checked it out it’s worth a look.

The report doesn’t recommend, but provides a good comparison of RPR, CoreLogic, Move, and iMapp and their offerings to MLS providers/brokers.  One of the interesting things about RPR is they have become somewhat of a “market maker” for legitimate MLS data.   In the past any such deals were consider verboten, now the playing field is wide open.  Not quite sure if this was really part of the plan.

Just click the title above to get the report, it’s free!

Google I/O 2010 – A light start

Google I/O bootcamp is today and the conference starts in earnest tomorrow.  To get everyone ready, some breaking news from Onion News Network (ONN) about a new Google Phone feature.

And an older news segment that should be relevant at Google I/O.  If anyone knows where the van pick up at Moscone will be, post it in the comments section.

Tomorrow the big announcements begin.  Google is certain to go on the offensive against Apple.  What product line will they attack?  Apple TV?  iPad?  iPhone?

You can tune into the first keynote Wednesday at 9AM (California time) using the YouTube link below:

And of course, stay tuned to Vendor Alley for live updates throughout the conference.
