Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

I love the smell of cream cheese in the morning…

I was at an office meeting today up in Lakewood. I love going to these meetings, this is where it all begins.  The weekly real estate office meeting.  The American Dream in action!

The agenda for every one of these meetings is about the same:

The Office Manager introduces the Title Rep who give some sort of pitch for their company/services and any other industry thing they are promoting – “Don’t forget the WCR Fashion Show, Men are welcome to attend!”  Then the Loan Guy comes up and gives the update on interest rates and the market in general.  After a brief “needs and wants” The Broker takes over and give some advice about saving money on taxes this year (he is going to hold a class tomorrow night if enough agents are interested).  His talk is part informative but mostly motivational. – “Hey Susie why don’t you tell everyone about the deal you closed this past weekend off of Craigslist!”

I was the main attraction (the price of this top billing was that I brought the food – bagels and a fruit plate).

As I stood there enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of residential real estate in action I noticed something hanging above the doorway.

It was a ziplock bag.  The ziplock bag had a tiny bit of water in it along with a penny.

What’s this?  I thought. A good luck charm?  Is someone going to kiss me if I stand beneath it (hopefully the Title Rep!).  Some sort of make shift Voodoo talisman to keep away bad spirits?  I had never seen anything like it.  I noticed they had another one hanging from another doorway.

One of the agents noticed me taking a picture of it and asked- “I bet you are wondering what’s that for?”

I replied that yes I was very curious!

“We had a big problem with flys in the office.” she told me.  “One of the agents said this was an old trick, you put a penny in a ziplock bag with some water in it and hang it over the doorway where you have flys.  Flys don’t like the way it reflects light. ”

“Does it work?” I asked.

“Do you see any flys around here?” asked the agent.

“Nope.” I replied.

“I use it at property showings now, the night before…works like a charm” she continued.

God help me, but I do love real estate!

NARScandal.com: Connecting the dots…

Questions have been risen about the claim that Gary Cedar-Joyner and/or William Cedar are part of NARScandal.com.  So far posts on NARScandal.com rebuke such claims.  Here are the facts:

On the State of California’s business incorporation website we can clearly see that IDXMedia.com and IDXStudios.com share the same agent address.  [You can click on any image to see a larger view.]

Recently IDXStudios.com updated their About Us page:

Mr. William Cedar appears to, by all accounts, have an impressive background.  The question is why/if William Cedar is involved with NARScandal.com and to what level.

So, let’s take a look at another registration, from William Cedar.  Looks like he has registered another URL:  http://www.theotherguys.com.

When you go to www.theotherguys.com it looks very similar (same WordPress Theme) to NARScandal.com

If you do the same trick that discovered Gary on NARScandal.com you come up with the same gary@idxstudios.com e-mail address on www.theotherguys.com.

WHOIS reports that the domain “theotherguys.com” is registered to “Imagine Publishing”.  So William Cedar owns or is a part of “Imagine Publishing.”  Also, notice that theotherguys.com and NARScandal.com are both registered with DOTSTER and use Pagely.

Imagine Publishing as we know is listed in the About Us on NARScandal.com. Interestingly we now know the website url for Imagine Publishing.  http://www.Imaginepublishinginc.com

So it’s pretty clear that there is a connection of Gary Cedar-Joyner and William Cedar and idxstudios.com and NARScandal.com

You can also see another connection between Gary and William further demonstrated on http://www.mylife.com/c-405689845

For Gary or William Cedar to deny any involvement with NARScandal.com simply does not match the facts.  They have been outed.  And that is all I have to say….

What do these people have in common?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GOOMZEE SECURES SERIES A VENTURE FINANCING

Missoula, MT – March 30, 2010 – Goomzee (www.goomzee.com), a company that has developed an innovative mobile marketing platform that helps real estate professionals connect with potential buyers announced today that it has secured a $1.5 million Series A round of funding.  Led by Highway 12 Ventures along with additional investors in the US and Europe, this investment will enable Goomzee to expand its development, marketing and sales efforts.

According to Founder and CEO Mike Sparr, “We are thrilled to have such a terrific syndicate of investors join Goomzee’s mission to be the solution real estate sales professionals turn to as more buyers demand information on their mobile device.”

Goomzee’s text message marketing product, Realty Connect, serves real estate agents nationwide.  Agents place signs or ads about a property for sale that prompt consumers to send a text message for information and pricing.  Interested buyers send a text message with a unique property ID code and within seconds they receive home information, pricing, and optionally can view photos all on their cell phone.  The agent and buyer can then connect in a variety of ways to discuss the properties for sale.

“We are completely impressed with what Mike and his team have accomplished with limited resources” said Glenn Michael, General Partner of Highway 12 Ventures who has joined Goomzee’s board of directors in conjunction with the financing. ”Goomzee has already served agents nationwide, and teamed with various associations and multiple listing services (MLS) to get its industry-leading product in the hands of those who need it.  It’s exciting to think about what they’ll be able to do with additional financial backing.”

The company was launched to address a recognized need in the real estate industry, based on requests from agents themselves. It’s service evolves to meet the needs of its customers, and many new products and uses of its technology platform have emerged.

Special Report! The people behind NARScandal.com

Based on input from Vendor Alley readers and other sources I’ve put together a special report on the people behind NARScandal.com

You can access this report free on the Backstage Page section of this blog.  If you don’t have a Backstage Pass password email me at vendor dot alley at gmail dot com and I’ll send you one.

More great quotes about calREDD from Inman article last week.

I was re-reading Matt Carter’s article from last week on Inman News: Another rocky start for ‘California MLS’.  As a side note, C.A.R. posted a response to the article you can read here.

Here’s a couple quotes that also deserve attention.

“We’ve delivered everything we said we would,” Kucirek said. “We have a signed contract … whatever (the Lake County board votes in April), they have to live up to it.”

Sounds like a vendor I would like to work with….NOT!

and this gem from Mike Silvas…

“The reality is that the statewide MLS effort is proceeding in an orderly fashion”

Sounds like Mike made a trip to Humboldt County to talk about Lake County!

calREDD continues to suck.

Matt Carter (As I’ve stated in the past, is doing some excellent reporting in the MLS world) posted another article on troubles plaguing calREDD, the California Association of REALTORS statewide MLS effort.

The article is called ” Another rocky launch for ‘California MLS‘ ” and focuses on some of the frustrations of Lake Country Association of REALTORS, which represents about 400 members and is  calREDD’s latest victim customer.  Some of this frustration has also been posted on Vendor Alley.

Here’s the money quote from the article:

“As of right now, we cannot see any other listings (of other Realtor associations) which are running calREDD,” said Lake County member Jean King, a Realtor with David R. Hughes & Associates. “We should have been told that it would not be available” at launch, she added.

Kucirek said that while calREDD made it clear to participating Realtor associations that they would not have immediate access to listings systemwide, not all of their members may have gotten that message.

King said that while she believes Realtors in general support a statewide MLS, she is frustrated with calREDD.

“They have not addressed our concerns in a timely fashion and (the calREDD system) certainly does not meet my needs,” King said. “I personally would like to see us go back to Paragon at least for the time being. What we have been given is a bare-bones program that cannot even accurately report days on market.”

So let me get this straight, the big value proposition is that calREDD will be a state-wide MLS system.  But the system is designed so that each installation of a calREDD MLS system can’t search upon each others listing inventory????

Huh?

And just for the record, the reason why people think they should be able to see listings from other calREDD MLS systems is because you call yourself A STATE-WIDE MLS SYSTEM!!

You just can’t make this shit up.

Somebody should pull the plug on this now before it costs C.A.R. members any more money.

Is Gary Joyner NARScandal.com?

You got to hand it to Vendor Alley readers they always get their man!

Is Gary Joyner the dumbass whack-job conspiracy freak knucklehead is part of NARScandal.com?  We think so.  It looks like Gary’s sub par tech skills may have outed himself.  Vendor Alley reader Brian Bell easily cracked his site by cleverly letting the site time out to reveal his identity. (click on image below)

Right there for all the world to see gary@idxstudios.com.  Now we know why the site’s favicon is a “G”.

Lets hope he does a better job locking down sites for his customers!  And speaking of his “customers”.  Gary has quite a client list on his site http://www.idxstudios.com/clients.php Seems like Gary likes to stretch the truth a bit himself, might this be a new “scandal” he and his “staff of writers” at NARScandal.com can write about?  His “client list” includes: HGTV, Century21, AOL, The Wall Street Journal, Lehman Brothers, and the NYSE.

The NYSE?  REEEEALLY Gary?  The Wall Street Journal?  REEEEEEEEALLY Gary?  What did you do?  Take a picture of their lobby?

One word Gary, BULLSHIT!

If you are an MLS Provider I would strongly suggest you check your IDX agreements for Gary’s companies, idxmedia.com, idxstudios.com and indigo sun studios (isun.net). Not sure why Gary has so many names for companies that essentially provide the same service, but it sounds like a HUGE red flag.

NARScandal.com outed?

The circle is closing.

Anyone heard of IDXStudios.com?
